A friend went fishing this past weekend and bagged two keeper grouper and some grunts. He was in about 20 feet of water. He had three other people with him and they all caught something.

The fishing on the Mosquito Lagoon these last few weeks has been good. If you get out between these winter time cold fronts, the redfish have been cooperating quite nicely. Florida’s weather has continued to be some of the strangest I can remember, but large schools of Redfish have been found all over the Indian River system this month. Black Drum also continue to make their presence known tailing

February 28th, 2010 Orlando Florida Flats Fishing Reports
Well here we are almost to the end of the month and we are starting to warm things up some. There was a few days there where it was cold. Just not
right for central Florida to say the least. Just not right at all. Now
with air temperatures climbing back into the 60's and hopefully
reaching a prime of the upp

Fishing has been pretty good in the ULM and Baffin Bay area on fair weather days. Redfish are biting on Cut Shad, Live Shrimp, and Sea Lice when you can find them at area bait stands. We have been catching Reds on the West side of the Intracoastal Waterway from Rocky Slough up to the Rocks at the mouth of Baffin Bay. Speckled Trout are biting using two different methods. We are using a Old Bayside titanium popping cork rigged with a 24" monofilamen…

Hello Everyone. This January was the coldest I can ever remember. We had ten straight days where the high’s never reached 55 degrees. I had ice in my backyard three day’s in a row. Not bad weather for North Dakota, but not Clearwater Florida. Water temperatures in the low 50’s killed and stressed many species including Mullet, Snook, Catfish, Jack Cravelle and Ladyfish.

What a winter we have had so far! Finally got some much needed rain and hopefully this will set us up for some real good fishing in the months to come.
In the last month we have had some real good days on the water. The key has been to catch the right day in between the cold fronts. It is usually best about two days after the front has been the best because you gain some water back and the water temperature rises. The best bait has been the corky devil and the pearl color has been the best. Pla…

Thank goodness that the coldest we have seen here in the past week was 58 degrees! None of the snow storms and ice that has been plauging the mid-west and the east coast. We did have some weather this week though. As my wife picked me up at the airport on Tuesday it started to rain, and it continued t…

What an Amazing few weeks of weather here in Florida! Record low temperatures have been upon us for the first two weeks of January and it has been down right FRIGID.
I didn’t do much fishing but paid close attention to weather reports, being very concerned about all of Florida’s fisheries and the impact this weather would have on them. Snook in West Florida, Tarpon in the estuaries, Redfish in the lagoon? How would they survive? Some parts of our state were hit harder than others with varied re…

I see weekend fisherman that spend a lot of time on the water not really adapting to the methods that professionals use to catch fish consistently. If you are a lure aficionado or tournament angler then this article is not for you, sorry! I see a lot of authors writing about how fast to work your chartreuse, pumpkin seed, gold flakey, curly tailed fish whackers or to find sandy, shelly, grassy flats drop offs…so I thought I’d write something most of you could really use to catch fish more consis…

January 27th, 2010 Mosquito Lagoon Fishing Reports
The weather for the beginning of this year had started off very poorly as we all know. Some of the coldest days and nights I have seen in my life here in Florida for a very long time. Not just cold but the length it lasted as well. I will not dwell too much over the extreme cold that we had or what it did and is doing to the fish populations because I am sure every one is aware of it at this point in time. However I would like to suggest some f…

Wintertime fishing is a source of many good memories for a lot of coastal anglers, and marks some of the very best days of my professional fishing career. But even beyond recent years, I can still remember some quite successful cold weathered fishing outings from my boyhood days. You see, I was one of the fortunate ones whose dad had me fishing just about as soon as I could walk. I was introduced to the sport while using the basic green Zebco setup, but so…
