Yesterday I caught 2 snook by accident while pompano fshing in Stuart, Florida 40 miles north of where i live. that is a good sign cosidering the big freeze fish kill last month. I was pretty freaked out cosidering the water temp yesterday in the indian river was 57+ degrees.

THAT FISH IS A BEAUTY SCOTTY BUT IF YOU WANT TO SEE HER LIVE TO FIGHT ANOTHER DAY DO LIKE MATT SAYS. IN THE OLD DAYS I MUST HAVE TAKEN A THOUSAND OR MORE PICS HOLDING SNOOK IN THAT MANNER AND AFTER SOME RESEARCH WE FOUND IT IS IS "SUPER BAD" FOR THE FISH. JUST SLIDE A HAND UNDER HER BELLY FROM NOW ON AND YOUR GOOD TO GO!!! GREAT FISH BRO!!!

Hey Scotty. Nice fish.Try supporting its belly and jaw when you handle the bigger snook. It is bad for them to hang by the jaw. You can damage there organs. Nice fish though.

It is nice to hear that there still some snook out there. Especially after that cold snap we had that killed thousands of our fish.

Hey everybody I was fishing a local spot today and ran into a few people i know that fish there. I told them of the F.W.C "s decision to close season until at least the end of August. To my surprise most people did not even hear of it. So it is up to us to try and educate and spread the word of this situation. I had to laugh because everyone i told either did not beleive me or just said that sucks. I explained it will be better for the fishery in the future. So people if you are educated onthe closure and the reason for the closure please stand up and spread the Knowledge.

I read reports that even bonefish in the Keys and mullet in Flamingo have been found dead, enough to concern Biscayne Bay and Everglades biologists. We don't need to panic, but I agreee with Capt. Danny and Matt, that precautionary measures need to be taken to protect our favorite catch. We have to consider that any major fish kill, even if its only bait fish, can have an impact on other species like Snook. Matt report your sitings to FWC: Fish Kill Hotline at 800-636-0511

I live in the Hudson Florida area and as of now, I have seen anything except bait fish that has affected by the cold. Of course the couple of days may show a different story.
